Visit of Minister of Economy

The Minister of Economy Dr. Luis Felipe Céspedes visited The University of Melbourne as a part of a brief program in Australia that also included a visit to the Productivity Commission in Canberra and CSIRO in Clayton.

The program for the Minister's visit considered a reception with chilean students organized by the university in where CREGA took part. During the instance of conversation with the Minister, some concerns were mentioned related to the Start up program (Juan Pablo Villanueva), private fundings for R&D (Vidal Pérez), and retribution of the students in Chile.

As a part of the Minister's delegation, the students also had the opportunity to talk with the Chilean Ambassador in Australia (Sr. Daniel Carvallo) and the Chilean Consul in Melbourne (Sr. Gabriel Jara).

An excellent activity was carried out by CREGA this 12 of August. With the participation of 4 panellists (2 masters and 2 PhD), it was discussed different topics about the acedemic life, such as intenships, professors, exams, etc. A good instance of conversation was made, and the audience could receive and share interesting points of views. The activity finished with a networking session.

CREGA and the Week 0

As a part of the Week 0 of The University of Melbourne, CREGA was presented in the Graduate fair organised by the GSA. This was an important opportunity to show the association and to be close of the students. 

Meeting with the Chilean Ambassador and Consul

The Chilean Research Group of Australia (CREGA) and BECPAS were invited by the Chilean consul in Melbourne, Mr. Gabriel Jara, to hold a meeting with the Chilean embassador, Mr. Daniel Carvallo. In the instance, both Chilean Graduate Student associacions expressed their concerns and challenges to satisfy the academic and social needs of the students in this part of Australia. It was a pleasan meeting, in where Mr. Daniel Carvallo offered his help for the Third Chilean Graduate Students, and his desire of unity of all Chilean Students associations in this country. 

 

CREGA in Webinar

CREGA was invited by The University of Melbourne to participate in a webinar with Latinoaustralia to encourage prospective students to be part of this important university. In the meeting Glen Mcintyre (Senior Regional Program Manager), and Aldo Quelopana (Vice-President of Meeting - CREGA) answered the different doubts and questions of the students. 

Second Global Seminar

PhD (c) Jaime Fontbona deligthed us this past 06 of July with an interesting talk about "Aculturamiento en el Contexto Académico Australiano". This seminar pursued to provide tools for Chilean students to face up the Australian culture in a properly way, specialy because "we are not necessary prepared" as Jaime Fontbona said.
